Flood Channel Rehabilitation Phases 1, 2 and 3, Pleasanton & Dublin, CA
CE&G was retained by the Zone 7 Water Agency to provide Geotechnical Construction Management services for channel failures throughout their flood control district that resulted from the heavy storms in 2016-2017. Phases 1 and 2 consisted of the repair of 52 channel failures in 2018 and 2019. Under the jurisdiction of the United States Army Corps of Engineers, an additional 24 channel failures were repaired. These 76 repairs totaled $15 million in construction costs.
CE&G’s project contributions included: coordination and collaboration in re-engineered repair designs to accommodate existing flood channel conditions; mitigation of compaction testing issues; development of levee trail closure alternatives to ensure public safety; consultation and coordination with local homeowners associations; consultation with public outreach efforts, and consultation with USACE staff for Corps repair sites. CE&G’s efficient organization and communication amongst the project teams ensured that the projects were completed on time and within budget over the two-year period.
CM services consisted of the following:
• Coordination/consultation with Zone 7 staff, United States Army Corps of Engineers (USACE), general contractors, project engineers, biologists, and other project stakeholders
• Development and maintenance of cloud-based reporting
• Review of project documents, submittals, and RFI’s
• Review and processing of change orders
• Coordination of weekly progress meetings, including documentation of minutes
• Site visits of repair sites and preparation of field dailies
• Review of field and laboratory test results by the project geotechnical engineer
• UAS data acquisition for development of pre-construction, in-progress, and final as-built orthophoto topo plans
• Preparation of final conformance reports
