CE&G completed geotechnical explorations and designed a pavement structural section using Full Depth Reclamation (FDR) along Petersen Road between Walters Road and the Travis Air Force Base. The project consisted of reconstructing the asphalt concrete pavement and widening of the roadway by approximately 20 feet. The County’s goal was to recycle as much of the existing pavement structural section as possible. CE&G proposed a value engineering alternative using full depth reclamation (FDR) to rehabilitate the existing pavement.
This was the first FDR project for Solano County and resulted in a $500,000 in cost savings. The project was praised by Solano County Congressman John Garamendi, Suisun City Mayor Pro-Tem Lori Wilson, and U.S. Air Force Lieutenant Colonel Michael Tiemann. CE&G completed the project without the need to request changes to the budget or design schedule.
